2011 Remodel
The Church With a Heart Gets a Face Lift

In January, Pastor McKelroy laid out his vision and established goals for the 2011 year. One of these goals was a complete remodel of our sanctuary to include some modifications to our baptistry, a fresh paint scheme, the addition of arches and pillars to the altar "backdrop" area, new carpeting, new altar furnishings and modesty rail, and additional lighting, projection, and other technological upgrades. This project was pitched as a "debt free" project in that the church would assume no loans to accomplish it. The proposed design is shown to the right.
Let The Work Begin
We started raising funds in January and by the end of April we had enough money to begin the first phase of the project. During this phase most of the visual elements will be completed like the new altar furnishings and wall treatment. The work began on April 25th led by Larry Skains and Brad Kliewer. Many hours have gone into closing in the baptistry and preparing a platform for the arches and pillars to rest on.
Week One
As you can see, we've taken great care to protect the nice pews and furnishings we have in the auditorium from the dust caused from the renovation. Week one was all about preparing the altar "backdrop" for paint. We closed in some windows that were not in use and partially closed in the baptistry to make way for the arches and pillars that will be going up. We also expanded the "wall wrap" that breaks the back wall in two and made it all the same width. This wall wrap will support some of the pillars and contain wiring for accent lighting. We also finished coating the entire auditorium with a fresh paint scheme. We will continue to update this page as the work goes along; check back to see our progrss.
Week Two
At the close of the second week of construction, the auditorium had a different look and feel to it as new paint brought warmth and depth to the room. With the changes completed inside the auditorium, the work moved off site where Larry Skains built the boxes that would give an arch effect on the "backdrop" area of the auditorium. This work proved to be very complicated and time consuming as precise measurments had to be remade and plans readjusted. After a lot of head scratching and some trial and error, the boxes were skillfully completed in our van garage. As work drew to a close, it was evident that we were in for a long week three.
Week Three
The third week was all about finish work. The boxes that Larry built had to be lifted into place and secured to the walls. Additional lighting had to be wired, bulbs had to be replaced, and everything had to be cleaned up. Not to mention, the pillars and many other elements were in the mail, scheduled to be deliverded at the end of the week. After a few late nights, the auditorium was put back together and the working was done.
Phase One Complete
In just a few short weeks, the first phase of the remodel has been completed. This has been an exciting phase that has dramatically changed the look and feel of our auditorium. You can see in the image to the right the color and depth that the additions have added as well as the brightness that the arches and pillars bring. We are excited to be finished with this phase but are looking forward to completing the remodel with new carpet in phase two and added technology in phase three.
