A word from Debbie about W'ings:
W'INGS is a support group of widows, single women (including divorcee's) offering comfort and encouragement to other bereaved persons to help them work through their grief and live a productive life.
The specific goals established by the group are---
1. To offer a grief assistance program to the widow, singles and other bereaved persons.
2. To provide a support system to its members.
3. To help the widow, singles and other bereaved persons to accept death, grief, and the resources that are available to process his/her grief.
In order to accomplish these goals, we have established these ministries---
1. Card Ministry-sympathy, get well, birthday, anniversary of death, encouragement
2. Visitation-including the delivery of Grief Packet to the newly bereaved 4-6 weeks after death.
3. Support Sessions-sessions on how to face grief, along with a time of sharing
4. Gift Ministry-giving devotionals and taking gifts to the bereaved, shut-ins, and widows in rest homes.
5. Lending Library-contains books to help the widow or bereaved person deal with grief, as well as everyday life.
The W'INGS group meet 6 times a year at the Fellowship Hall at Bellmead Calvary Baptist Church. Two of the meetings are held on Thursday evenings starting at 6:00pm with a meal and either a guest speaker or some form of skit. The other 4 meetings are held on Saturdays, starting around 10:00am, with a meal, and other activities depending on what the function is for that particular month. For example, Year End Annual meeting, Picnic meeting, Craft workshop for our Christmas Project and then our Christmas Party.
The LORD has truly blessed this ministry and those involved since the first meeting in 1993. Please come and enjoy the fellowship, you will be blessed.
