The history of the class colors, goals, name, and verse goes back to the former teacher Evelyn Brown. At the time her and Judy Shaw had separate classes, catacorner from each other. In the event one of them couldn’t teach their class, the classes merged. Then the Lord called Evelyn to go teach Primary 2, second graders. The two classes merged permanently. Evelyn asked Judy to keep the colors, goals, name, and verse and Judy said she would.

It’s been about eight years now and Judy Shaw continues to teach this class. Her and her ladies study God’s word together.

Judy says of her class and ladies, “Our class is primarily a singles class although I have some married ladies who attend. The age group for our class is 25-50 but some of my ladies are older. They love our class so much they want to stay.”

The goals of the Mary class:

Make a commitment to:

Abide daily in fellowship with Jesus,

Read the Bible daily and

Yearn to sit at the feet of Jesus.

The Class Verse:

Luke 10: 39 & 42-

And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

“But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”  (Jesus speaking)                

Class colors: 

Maroon represents the blood shed at Calvary that washed away our sin. Gold represents the treasures we have stored up in heaven.
